NIPUN Bharat's goal is to have 100% children by Grade III with foundational literacy & numeracy.

The National Education Policy of India (NEP 2020) highlights: "Our highest priority must be to achieve universal foundational literacy and numeracy in primary schools by 2026-27, the rest of the policy will be largely irrelevant if this basic learning is not achieved."
